2024 – Stoneville Mural Unveiling Day Featured on WXII The Local Vibe

Stoneville, NC – 2024 – The Stoneville Mural Project, also known as the Backstreet Art Project, was a community-driven initiative designed to honor the history and pride of Stoneville’s historic African American neighborhood. Led by TAB Arts Center in collaboration with the NC Arts Council and Rockingham Arts Council (serving as fiscal agent), the project was funded through the Spark the Arts Grant. Artists Meesha Walker, Rashaun Wilson, and Sunny Gravely-Foushee worked together to design and paint the mural, while sculptor Erik Beerber contributed a complementary artistic bench. This vibrant public art installation not only beautifies the space but also serves as a powerful reminder of Stoneville’s cultural legacy, reinforcing community identity and inspiring future generations.
